The 2008 conference marked the tenth anniversary for COPAA. One third of the membership, or 385 individuals attended the action packed event. Highlights included: presentation of the Diane Lipton award for excellence in advocacy to Judith Gran and the COPAA Distinguished Service Award to Baker & McKenzie; keynote address by one of our founding members Thomas Gilhool; general session with Daniel Losen; 2007 Case Law Review; 10 pre-conference sessions; 40 breakouts; and, events raising over $6,500 in support of the Beth Goodman Scholarship Fund. 13 individuals received scholarships to attend this year, 9 Beth Goodman, 1 Ken Archibald, and 3 Registration scholarships. Our sincere thanks to the Conference Committee, Proposal Reviewers, Sponsors, Presenters, Exhibitors, volunteers and everyone who made the conference such a success. COPAA awards Judith A. Gran as the 2008 Recipient of the Diane Lipton Award for Outstanding Educational Advocacy on Behalf of Children with Disabilities. For nearly two decades, Ms. Gran has been an extraordinary advocate for the rights of children and adults with disabilities.
